A political event of the eighties par excellence in Slovenia and in the former Yugoslavia, was given a material form through photography when on may 31, 1988, Tone Stojko secretely captured on film the arrest of Janez Janša in Ljubljana. Stojko's photograph of the rraest of Janez Janša is not simply a flashback to all that has gone before in art and documentary photography, it also represent a precedent in the history of political photography in Yugoslavia/Slovenia. The arrest of Janez Janša was the first photographic and the only visual document of a political arrest in the former socialist Yugoslavia to have been published in parallel with the event itself.
