It takes its starting point from Wiame Haddad’s photograph *About an Occupied Room* (a view of an evening in October 1961) and from stills of rooms — understood as spaces of anger and struggle — taken from militant films of the 1960s and 1970s. It presents archives and documents relating to the rent strikes and anti-racist mobilisations of the 1970s (Sonacotra, the Arab Workers’ Movement), alongside the socially engaged perspectives of Jean-Louis Boissier, Monique Hervo and Élie Kagan on the issue of precarious housing conditions.
