Las Batallas de Monte Chingolo is a historic episode in Argentina, the assault on Batallón 601 on 23 December 1975, organised by the Ejército Revolucionario del Pueblo (ERP). The action, which was the ERP's last major military operation and the most violent in terms of casualties, ended with the defeat of the guerrilla group and dealt a decisive blow to its operational capacity. Las batallas de Monte Chingolo is also the title of a book and photographic exhibition by photographer and historian Yulian Martínez, which documents the episode through testimonies, archives and historical and current images to recover the memory of the event.
