As the people's war in Eritrea draws to a close, all the internal contradictions of the Ethiopian military regime are exploding and the international balance of power and alliances are crumbling. At the centre of this struggle, the Eritrean people, despite the diplomatic and military isolation imposed on them by the major powers, are winning their war of liberation and achieving national unity and identity. The introductory text and photographic material seek to bear witness not only to this hope for victory and independence, but also to this collective effort towards the emancipation of the masses and the civil and social reconstruction of the country.
