The 1988 Colombian regional elections were held on 13 March 1988 and were the first elections of this type held in the country, with the aim of electing mayors in the municipalities and the Special District of Bogotá. A total of 1,009 mayors were elected.

The ambitious project by German Escobar, credited as the author and creator of the project, brought together five photographers and sent them across the country to record popular propaganda. The result of this work is a collection of signs and representations that show the social characteristics of the people called to vote.
