Gustavo Castro Gaitán photographed more than 50 regions during Carlos Lleras Restrepo's 1966 presidential campaign in Colombia. The use of a wide-angle lens and the sequence of horizontal images create a cinematic feel to this album about the candidate, without ever photographing him, where the main actors are the crowds, as if they were the most important characters in this story told through images. The book is beautifully crafted with a hardback but soft cover reminiscent of a family album, which contrasts with the fiercely combative tone of the demonstrators, indicative of the new Colombia.
Although the photographer is not credited, the research work carried out by the authors of Impreso en Colombia, Arturo Salazar and José Ruiz, indicates Gustavo Castro Gaitán as the photographer who took these pictures.
