This book, one of the first published in 1965, captures the scene of the Vietnam War (North Vietnam). As soon as the American bombing started, Shigeru Tamura flew to Vietnam and went to the front. During his two-and-a-half month stay, he visited towns and villages, and these are his photographs. What is striking is the large number of young men with rifles in their hands. The harsh daily life of the local population is reflected in the view of these young people, great emphasis was placed on the young women, who carry guns on their backs as they work in the fields in preparation for the bombing.
