This photo book is a journey to one of the most polluted places on the planet, where the population lives in close contact with a controversial reality and the health consequences,
especially that of children, are dramatic. Donde los niños no sueñan explores, in fact, the con-
tamination of heavy metals in the environment and the devastating effects on the health of the inhabitants of Cerro de Pasco, Peru. This town has developed around a giant open-pit mine, El Tajo, which covers about 2 square kilometers. Every day, metals are extracted from this mine.
Heavy metals such as copper, lead, and zinc, and this activity has serious repercussions on the health of the inhabitants.
