"The cross, symbol of peace and love, to the neck of those who blacken it with hatred, pretending to defend justice and isolationism."
This book reflects: - the dimensions of the conspiracy hatched against our Arab nation - its impact and all its horror. We want this book to be a faithful and moving image of our terrible experiences.
Conclusion.
Here are their arguments, and here are ours. They said what they had to say. We also said what we had to say. Only the Arab nation, object of the plot, and human conscience, could arbitrate.
From the incipit of the book.
The book document the events that took place between 1968 and 1975 in Lebanon, a country at the time of Christian majority, and therefore the Constitution provided that if the President of the Republic were Christian, the Prime Minister would be Muslim, and vice versa!
It turns out that having already had great tensions in that country, with the intervention of Nasser, at the time of the famous ´United Arab Republic`, formed in 1958 between Egypt and Syria, having ended in 1961, with EGYPT continuing to use this designation until 1971.
As in 1968 the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) invaded Lebanon, here in the work it is understood that Lebanon, in addition to accepting the fact with pleasure, should still allow that organization to lead Lebanon! It was a question of tipping Lebanon to the side that pleased Nasser and also Moamar Gaddafi, as well as the PLO, which in that country would find "sanctuary" in its struggle against the State of Israel!
There were two interests, to end the Constitution, which protected the relative Christian majority, which is called "Maronite" (!), And to give the PLO, in everything obedient to Nasser, a way to dominate Lebanon ... In addition to these intentions, there would be the possibility of bordering Syria that Nasser hated since 1961 and even more since 1963 when ´Baas` took power in Syria!
The Christians defended themselves with ´Armed Falange`.However, Syria finally intervened and there was a cordial meeting between Syrian President Hafez al-Aassad and Lebanese President Suleiman Franjieh, in 1975, a fact that ends with the ´hope` cherished by Nasser and the PLO!
