This book opens with a photo of concentrated intensity: on 1 August 1953, in a camp in Santiago de Cuba, the young Fidel Castro appears, and behind him, on the wall, by an inexplicable coincidence that the jailers could not avoid, Martí's cough appears. The last photograph, dated 1 May 1966, is enlarged with a ray of light over the Plaza de la Revolución in Havana, over the crowd, as if the contained energy of the initial image had escaped and manifested itself in the open space. One of the few books published and printed in Cuba.
