"Cairo.Open City" examines the role of images in Egypt's ongoing revolution, from the outbreak of the Arab Spring to the present. The catalog includes a variety of approaches to the temporal media of photography and video, from the work of photojournalists, to recordings by activists and "citizen journalists," to documents collected by various artists. The different chapters will generate a dialogue between images: Newspaper cover images will sit alongside photo galleries of blogs, iconic images alongside the unknown images of people on the street, images of martyrs alongside those of long-term documentary projects. The catalog is released on the occasion of the exhibition at the Braunschweig Museum of Photography and includes essays by young authors from Cairo.
