Archives des luttes des femmes en Algérie (Archives of Women's Struggles in Algeria) is a collective and independent project with the aim of building a collaborative digital archive of the Algerian women's movement since 1962. Published by the collective as part of its participation in the 15th edition of Documenta, it recounts a dense and prolific period in the history of struggles in contemporary Algeria between 1988 and 1993. In 1989, the adoption of a constitution authorising political pluralism allowed women's collectives and associations to exist legally and to carry out their activities more freely than during the era of the single party.
The book presents reproductions of documents from this period of intense political activity, now preserved by former activists, photographs of some of the founding gatherings in the history of the Algerian feminist movement, and texts.
