This work not only bears witness to the struggle of the last twenty-five years of black people in Brazil, through texts, poems and photographs, but also presents the political and social transfigurations, affirming the Black Movement as a fruitful force in the construction of democracy. which has now been consolidated under the government of Luís Inácio Lula da Silva (2003-). In its discursive multiplicity, the book presents texts by various people involved in Black issues, including Minister Gilberto Gil, Nei Lopes, Julio César de Tavares, Helio Santos, Sueli Carneiro, Ubiratan Castro, Jacques D'Adesky, Vanda Menezes, Edna Roland , among others. The work contains around 200 photographic images by Januário Garcia, revealing the main events of this journey with facts produced by both the actions of black people and the actions of other social instances in which they were only comprimarios.
