Friday's 2020-2022 protests represent a civil society movement unlike any seen in the history of Slovenia. Never before has there been such a gap between the authorities and civil society, never before have we witnessed a movement of such numbers and longevity, fighting so resolutely, articulately and unwaveringly for human rights, democracy and the rule of law in the face of direct political and police repression.
In addition to their mass, diversity of content and persistence, the protests have been characterised above all by their artistic approaches and the development of a protest culture. This was reflected in creative slogans, banners, large paper and cardboard puppets, decorated bicycles, light installations, poetry, music and humour, etc.
The book 105 FRIDAYS. Bicycle Protests 2020-2022 presents a chronological overview of the 105 weeks of the Friday protest movement, explains the context of time and place, opens up the reflections of different authors on the protest movement and documents in pictures the highlights of all the protests. Over 300 pages, the book features over 450 photographs by renowned photographers and presents the most illustrative, comprehensive and in-depth insight into more than two years of the protest movement.
